Well, I had a lovely Christmas. Freakishly, I woke up before anyone else (including my daughter Cleo), and was astounded to note that my stocking actually had stuff in it. The family is lovely and all, but the stocking concept is one that they never seem to have comprehended in the past. It has been many a year that I have diligently filled stockings for Dave and Cleo, only to wake up on Christmas day with a floppy flat sad stocking. This year, Dave gets bonus points. Here are several pictures of my stocking contents:
After I opened my stocking, I drank coffee for a while until I couldn't handle it any more, then I woke Dave and Cleo up. They opened their stockings. Cleo was quite pleased with the contents of her stocking, and Dave was puzzled by his, which included a flying Panda yoyo and a barrel o'monkeys. Then, Cleo proceeded to tear into her presents. Among the items that she listed as personal favorites:
1. Creative Zen Nano
2. woodburning kit (I'm regretting that one already)
3. several rolls of duct tape
4. Katamari Damacy
5. purdy yarn
6. extra large uglydoll
Dave and Cleo proceeded to play Katamari Damacy while I rushed around frantically trying to deal with last minute wrapping, food cooking, packing, etc. We left for Seattle almost an hour late, with Cleo and Dave feeling that the blame rested squarely on my shoulders (a charge that I feel is grossly unfair and ironic). We arrived at my old friends house almost exactly one hour late, which was likely right on time in actuality. They have developed a habit of telling us to arrive one hour earlier than they actually want us there. It no longer works as effectively as it once did, but the tradition remains. We did a group roll of pierogies. We then ate pierogies, turkey, ham, beef stew, borscht, greens, salad, and crab. Later on, we ate a lot of chocolate, some pineapple upside down cake, and some shoofly pie. In between, we drank coffee and alcohol, played a gambling game, discussed matters loudly, opened a bunch of presents, and stayed too late at Jen and James house. A good time was had by all, with the possibility of Jen and James in that last hour or so when they likely really wanted to go to bed.
Oh, and I got a rilly cool pot holding rack thing for Christmas, among other wonderful items.
