It's officially spring, and since I haven't posted for shit on my own Vox blog, I decided it was high time to resuscitate MP3 Vox! This week's theme:

(hope this is okay, Dave- I couldn't stand to see mp3eme vox die!)
I don't think this theme is lame, Sixy. In fact, it's really hitting a chord for me. My contributions this morning: a little ditty from my pal and former roommate Jed, some Operation Ivy, one of Michael's tearjerkers (I used to cry in my room listening to this song), Communards and Bronski Beat both seem to have both worked with this theme, Band of Bees, Architecture in Helsinki, and Alicia Keys...
My sister Kim was probably my primary sibling musical influence, with my sister Sue coming in second. Both had a taste for the new wave and early punk rock that appealed to me as a child. Sue introduced me to the B-52's, who were one of my favorite bands in middle school. Kim introduced me to David Bowie, the Clash, and Elvis Costello.
Sue brought the B52's home with her after her first semester in college. I listened to this album obsessively, and my younger sister and I would dance around our bedroom frenetically on a regular basis.
This isn't the right song, but I can't seem to find a download of it to save my life. My sister Jenny had a monster crush on this bad boy named Danny Hatcher in the early parts of high school. She would listen to the song "Morning Sun" by Bad Company over and over again. I remember the song of the needle dropping on the record in her bedroom. I think Danny was her first true case of complete and utter heartbreak.
That's all I've got for now. Maybe I'll have more later.
POST A SONG FROM YOUR COLLECTION THAT
MENTIONS, DESCRIBES, OR EVOKES
A PLACE (REAL OR IMAGINARY).
Let's start out with a little bit of funky funky Broadway...
Okay, so now we're all worried about our MP3eme leader Dave, but the fact that he hasn't posted a new theme has allowed me to see the error of my ways in failing to post this song earlier...
